GST calculator

Add GST to a price, or take it back out of one that already includes it. Then say where the goods are going, and it splits the tax under the right heads — the part most calculators guess at.

The amount below is before tax. We will add GST on top of it.

GST rate

Where is it going?

This is what decides CGST + SGST versus IGST, and it is the part most calculators skip. Paste a GSTIN into either box and the state is read out of it.

Your state
Place of supplyWhere the goods are delivered — not always the buyer's head office.
Taxable value₹10,000.00
CGST @ 9%₹900.00
SGST @ 9%₹900.00
Total GST₹1,800.00
Total payable₹11,800.00

Shown as CGST + SGST because that is the commoner case. Set both states above to confirm it — an inter-state supply is all IGST, and the two are not interchangeable on a return.

Questions people ask

How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?
Divide by 1 plus the rate — an amount including 18% GST is the taxable value multiplied by 1.18, so the taxable value is the amount divided by 1.18. What you must not do is take 18% of the inclusive amount and subtract it: that is not the inverse operation and leaves you short. On ₹11,800 inclusive, the correct taxable value is ₹10,000 and the tax ₹1,800; the wrong method gives ₹9,676 and ₹2,124.
When is it IGST instead of CGST and SGST?
When the place of supply is in a different state from the supplier. Then the entire tax is IGST at the full rate. When both are in the same state it splits into CGST and SGST at half the rate each. The place of supply for goods is normally where the movement of the goods ends, which is why delivering to a buyer’s branch in another state changes the answer.
What are the GST rates in India?
The main slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, with 0% on exempt supplies, 0.25% on rough precious stones and 3% on gold and silver. Which slab applies depends on the HSN code of what you are selling, not on who is buying it.
Why do the CGST and SGST halves sometimes differ by one paisa?
Because an odd tax amount cannot be halved exactly. The extra paisa goes to CGST so that the two halves add back to the exact tax on the invoice. An invoice whose components do not sum to its own tax line is worse than one showing no split at all.
Is anything I type here sent to your servers?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Doing this on every enquiry?

Ordder reads the enquiry as it arrives on WhatsApp or email, prices it against your catalogue at the right slab, and sends the quote back with the tax already split by place of supply.
